Capital Transit will be making several changes to Express, Connector and Commuter routes and schedules starting Monday, February 5, 2024.

Core Service (routes 1, 3, & 4) is NOT impacted by any changes at this time.

A summary of changes for each route with changes is shown below, or for more details:

• See updated schedules.
• Use Google Maps Transit directions. You’ll need to change “Leave now” to “Depart at” or “Arrive by”, and set the date to October 23, 2023 or later.

Summary of Changes:

• Route 5 University Connector:
  • New stop on Vintage Blvd near Safeway and SEARHC. The bus stops here after leaving the Valley Transit Center on the way to UAS. Use the Route 6 to travel to the VTC.
  
  
• Route 6 Riverside/Airport Connector:
  • New stop on Vintage Blvd near Safeway and SEARHC. The bus stops here on the way from the Airport to the Valley Transit Center. Use the Route 5 to travel from the VTC.


• Route 7 Lemon Creek Commuter:
  • Afternoon runs depart from the Downtown Transit Center at 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm


• Route 8 Downtown/Valley Express:
  • This route now provides service on Riverside Drive.
    • Please Routes 3, 4, or 5 as alternatives for stops on Backloop or Glacier Hwy.
  • Valley Express buses depart from the Downtown Transit Center 5 minutes earlier, at :00 and :30 minutes after the hour.
  • The route will continue from the Valley Transit Center to Valley Blvd via Mendenhall Loop Road, and back to the Valley Transit Center via Mint Wy and Riverside Dr.
  • Until permanent stops are installed along Riverside Drive, you may flag the bus at any location where it is safe for the bus to stop.


• Route 9 Egan Express:
  • One inbound run from the Valley Transit Center at 6:40 AM. Use Route 8 as alternative.


• Route 10 Taku Commuter:
  • This route is discontinued. Please use the Route 8 Valley/Downtown Express route, with stops on Mendenhall Loop Rd and Riverside Dr.
  • Route 8 replacement service makes a counter-clockwise loop from the Valley Transit Center to Valley Blvd via Mendenhall Loop Road, and back to the Valley Transit Center via Mint Wy and Riverside Dr.
  • Early morning departure times for Route 8 replacement service runs:
    • VTC at 6:00 AM; Valley Blvd at 6:05 AM; Riverside Dr at Dimond Park at 6:11 AM
      • Bus continues as Route 8 Downtown Express from VTC at 6:15 AM
    
    
    • VTC at 6:25 AM; Valley Blvd at 6:30 AM; Riverside Dr at Dimond Park at 6:36 AM
      • Bus continues as Route 8 Downtown Express from VTC at 6:40 AM
      • Or transfer to Route 9 Downtown Egan Express departing VTC at 6:40 AM
    
    
    • VTC at 6:55 AM; Valley Blvd at 7:00 AM; Riverside Dr at Dimond Park at 7:06 AM
      • Bus continues as Route 8 Downtown Express from VTC at 7:10 AM
